Field report
Tell us what the water looks like today.
A dated, located, staged report is worth more to an agency than a hundred angry posts. File one here, and file it with your official channel too.
Stage reference
Rate what you saw
Dispersed offshore
Living pelagic habitat. Juvenile fish, turtles, crabs and endemic species depend on it. Nothing should be collected here.
Converging nearshore
Satellite and drift models show mats consolidating and tracking toward the coast. The window for lawful, selective interception opens and closes here.
Persistent accumulation
Material piles in shallow water, canals and marinas. Oxygen crashes, water browns, fish kills begin, decomposition starts producing gas.
Shoreline emergency
Meters of decaying biomass on the beach and against seawalls. Hydrogen sulfide odor, respiratory complaints, cancelled trips, heavy-equipment removal and landfill cost.
